Women heroes was a three part series implemented at the Seberang Prai Selatan Rakan Muda Complex, Penang, on the last weekend of July 2018 and the first two weekends of August 2018, with the awards ceremony and graduation held on August 18, 2018 at the Nibong Tebal Hall in Penang and officiated by the honorable Dato Mansor Othman, a member of the Tebal Parliament.
This successful program involved the participation of over 200 women and its purpose was to provide training and skill building regarding: how to deal with conditions of anxiety, first aid training, how to fight household fires and other problematic situations, exercise programs for fighting stress, and good nutrition seminars. The series also promoted programs dealing with exposing women to recent legislation involving women legal rights and exposing women to how to be better empowered in order to serve their neighborhoods and families.
This program was aided by Philip Morris Malaysia and trainers came from many agencies including: the Fire and Rescue Dept. of Malaysia, the Malaysian Civil Defense Agency, the State Dept. of Health (JKN), the Womens Centre for Change, the Penang Family Health Development Association, and the keynote speaker was the renowned professor, Dr. Sharifah Hayati Binti Syed Ismail. A total of 25 SALAM volunteers also assisted in making this series such a great success.
